THINGS TO DO
Porthleven
Foodie heaven, we ate whole crabs (messily) at Rick Steins, devoured
Thai tapas at Kota Kai, had the most incredible Crab Nachos at The Ship….and still have so many eateries to explore….the shopping is also very good.
Seal Sanctuary
Nearby is the village of Gweek with its fantastic Seal Sanctuary, while there are lots of spots to see Seals in the wild here, it’s great to see them up close and watch them being nursed back to health.
Lizard Point
Lizard Point is the most southerly point of the UK. A beautiful walk…and if you have time the light house is worth a visit too. Dramatic cliff walks, wild flowers and geological features, including the local Serpentine Rock.
Roskillys Farm
We went here only hoping to satisfy Tobias’ little sisters’ request for an ice cream on the last day of her holiday here. Instead we found a brilliant walk,
baby cows and goats, a great shop, café, restaurant and more. A good family trip.
Kynance Cove
We saw the pictures before we went and didn’t quite believe it….but can confirm it’s really that beautiful. Cliff walk down to pirate-esque cove and beautiful turquoise waters. Went for an early morning swim there when it was almost deserted, great way to start the day.
Surfing, Poldhu Beach
This beach is close by and is really
beautiful. It also has a great café - we would recommend the breakfast rolls and 'hot chocolate with everything'! It also has a brilliant surfing school. Poldhu, meaning “black pool” in Cornish, is situated on the west coast of the Lizard about a mile north of Mullion.
Mullion Cove
A beautiful cove and hidden sandy beach with cliff top walks. The beach is mostly covered at high tide, beside the historic lifeboat station and picturesque Mullion harbour.Situated around 5 miles from Lizard Point.
Gunwalloe & Church Cove
Within a 15 minute drive, a beautiful Cove, one of the beaches you can walk the dogs on any time, the other is picturesque and can have great surf. Almost deserted, great way to start the day.
Dog walks
Aside from the woods behind Glebe Hall local 'all hours' dog walk include: Penrose, Goonhilly (our dogs love this), Loe Bar, Church Cove…and then during summer holidays after 7pm the dogs are allowed on all the beaches!
